Planning continues to prepare Willowgrove School for a September, 2014 opening. The preschool committee is working to start a preschool program in the fall, and is working with current preschool operators to select an organization that will run the program. As more information comes available, such as upcoming planning meetings, details will be posted on the Willowgrove School web page: http://www.spsd.sk.ca/school/willowgrove/Pages/default.aspx A tentative March meeting has been set for Thursday, March 6th at 7pm in the library at Dr. J.G. Egnatoff School. We had a great turn out for our Kindergarten Information evening on January 23rd, and families had the chance to meet our new Kindergarten teacher Nicole Lemstra. She truly has a passion for early learning and supporting our youngest students. We already have almost 60 Kindergarten registrations for the fall! Our teacher Librarian Laurie Hnatiuk has begun ordering books for our library, and will continue to purchase resources throughout the spring. She has a strong technology background and uses technology to help students develop their critical thinking and creativity. Rita Wall has been appointed as our Adminstrative Assistant. She comes to us from Brownell School, and will begin working in the Willowgrove office some time in February. Staffing for other teaching positions at Willowgrove School is in the works, and hopefully in the coming weeks more staff will be appointed.
Two more parent consultation meetings have been planned for the month of February. The dates are Monday, February 10th and Wednesday, February 12th in the library at Forest Grove School from 7pm – 8:30pm. The agenda will be the same both evenings, and we will have childcare both nights. We are looking to get parent feedback about various aspects of the school such as safety, school culture, programming, and before and after school care. A more detailed agenda will be provided closer to the meeting dates.

Reaching Out . . . to Transform the World
Due to lack of interest, drop-in adult volleyball has been cancelled for the Winter 2014 season.
Canada has the highest rate of MS in the world. Based on current incidence rates, the MS Society of Canada estimates that approximately 1000 new cases of MS are diagnosed in Canada each year, which means three more Canadians are diagnosed with MS every day. Chances are you have a relative, friend, coworker, acquaintance or classmate with the condition.
“My role as a mother of two children living with MS is to listen, provide encouragement and believe in the hope that one day we will end MS. I encourage everyone to raise as much money as possible to ensure the research and support is there for all the people we love.”
Joan McFarlane-Rolfs, 20+ yr Saskatchewan Blue Cross MS Walker
